Spoilers Nanatsu no Taizai Season 5 Episode 21
In episode 20, as the Seven Deadly Sins raced towards the Demon King, the latter cast Death Zero, a spell that uses the pressure of gravity to keep enemies in one place.
To counter this, Merlin used Power Limit Break, which increased the powers of the Sins to the maximum level. This nullified the effects of Death Zero, freeing the Sins. The anime characters fight together as a unit against the Demon King.
Merlin combined all the attacks into the complete conversion spell. Although the Demon King tried to protect himself with the Ruler, Gowther’s Killer Switch overruled him.
At the last moment, it seems that Meliodas prevents the spell from hitting his father. When the Demon King called him a fool, it was revealed that the one who protected him is just an illusion of Meliodas.
The real Meliodas stated that this was a test to see if his father deserves a chance to redeem himself. And now, since the Demon King failed the test, Meliodas has no problem killing him.
Both anime characters in Nanatsu no Taizai Season 5 meet for the last time in the spirit world, where the Demon King reminded Meliodas of the repercussions of breaking the cycle of light and darkness before disappearing completely.
Escanor’s death
After Zeldris and Gelda left, it was time to say goodbye to Escanor. As Escanor burned and his body began to disintegrate, Merlin stepped forward and kissed him. The fire marked Merlin, just as it intended.
When Escanor’s disintegration was complete, Meliodas wished his friend would rest in peace. In episode 21, Merlin’s true wish could be revealed. Then he could revive Arthur and encourage him to take control of his chaos magic in Nanatsu no Taizai Season 5.
